Ingredients

Spinach Puff Pastry

  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Avocado oil for cooking
  • Dried oregano and black pepper to taste
  • Spicy Herbamare seasoning
  • 1 cup frozen spinach
  • 1 egg (separate white and yolk)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup feta cheese
  • Puff pastry sheets (enough for a top and bottom layer)
  • Everything bagel seasoning

Herbamare® Original

Herbamare® Original is made from sea salt and 12 different fresh organically grown vegetables, garden herbs and iodine rich kelp. It is a delicious accompaniment to any meal

How to make Spinach Puff Pastry

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. In a skillet, heat some avocado oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions become translucent.

3. Season the onion and garlic mixture with dried oregano, black pepper, and spicy Herbamare to taste.

4. Add the frozen spinach to the skillet. Cover and cook for a few minutes until the spinach is heated through and any excess moisture has evaporated. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool.

5. Once the spinach mixture has cooled, add the white of one egg and mix it in. Reserve the yolk for later.

6. Stir in the mozzarella and feta cheeses. Add more spicy Herbamare if desired.

7. On a flat pastry sheet, place half of the spinach and cheese mixture, leaving some space around the edges.

8. Place another pastry sheet on top of the mixture and press the edges together to seal the pastry.

9. Brush the reserved egg yolk over the top of the puff pastry for a golden finish.

10. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top of the pastry for extra flavor.

11. Place the prepared spinach puff pastry in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.

12. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then slice it into squares or slices.

13. Serve your delicious Spinach Puff Pastry at your gathering and enjoy!
