A Neilsen report in March 2019 showed that on average adults spend 10.5 hours per day interacting with media, which included computers, television and cellular phone use.

Now, working from home, with every aspect of your work day done facing a laptop or computer screen, the minimum average is between 7-8 hours. And that's not counting your leisure time.

From the start of the quarantine, the average Canadian has seen a 33% increase in their phone screen time usage. Whether it be on social media, reading news or Twitter feeds or Facetime calls.7

Although these numbers may seem alarming, the bigger concern is the risk of digital eye strain, clinically known as computer vision syndrome.3 It only takes two hours per day to be at risk and most of us in this "new normal" are spending at least 6 times that.

When we focus on a screen, for long periods, we generally do not blink as often as we should. As a result, the eye tends to dry out.

My Top Tip:

Try our Eye Drops to soothe dry eyes.

Containing Euphrasia, they can even be used if you wear contact lenses or suffer from conjunctivitis. Apply 1 drop in each eye 4 to 5 times daily, or more often as required.

Dry eyes

Roughly 30% of Canadians experience ocular symptoms associated with dry eye, such as burning, itchy, red eyes, fatigue and headaches. Surprisingly, one symptom that may seem contradictory is tearing eyes.

Dry eyes often mean your tear system is out of whack, which can cause your body to send a flood of tears to compensate for the dryness. 4

We can't put all the blame on our digital devices. There are numerous other factors such as air conditioning, overheating, medications, age, pollution, systemic disorders, effects from laser eye surgery and contact lenses can also contribute to our dry, tired eyes.

A.Vogel Eye Drops to the Rescue

Using artificial tears or lubricating eye drops will help keep the surface of your eyes nice and moist. A.Vogel Eye Drops are made with a unique combination of Euphrasia (Eyebright) and Hyaluronic acid and provide fast-acting relief for dry, tired and irritated eyes.

Euphrasia or eyebright, a small white flower with streaks of purple and a splash of yellow in the center, has been used for centuries to treat eyes. It boasts a plethora of healing properties including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiviral, which help to protect and nourish the eyelid.5
Although Hyaluronic acid's name might be disconcerting, it's actually a type of polysaccharide, known as hyaluronan, naturally found within our bodies. Its main purpose is to help retain and replenish moisture. In fact, it's believed that 1g of hyaluronic acid is capable of holding as much as 1L of water!6
When used as an ingredient in eye drops it helps to form and maintain a liquid layer in the eye, which protects, refreshes and moisturizes the eyes.

A.Vogel Eye Drops contain no preservatives or phosphates and are contact lens friendly. Their unique delivery system is self-sterilizing and airtight, allowing extended use up to 6 months after opening.

By releasing one measured drop at a time there is no waste versus standard dispensers. Plus for women, there is no need to worry about sacrificing comfort for beauty as it won't run your mascara.
